Abstract
Not every hunter hunts everything. Aim of this research is to examine whether wildboar hunting is compatible with other quarry species. We have collected a sample of 317 hunters from Macedonia and Thrace (Northern Hellas) in 2007-8. 81 of them were wild boar hunters. There are certain species whose hunting is usually combined -or not- with wildboar. Main reasons for compatibility – or incompatibility – are the type of hunting dog required and the habitat. Wildboar hunters do not usually hunt woodcock nor quail. Additionally, they also avoid hunting partridges and pheasants. These who prefer to hunt wildboar would also like to hunt roe deer, as this quarry has similar habitat with wildboar. In general, mammal hunters and bird hunters seem to be two distinct categories.

Περίληψη
Κάθε κυνηγός δεν κυνηγά το κάθε είδος θηράματος. Σκοπός αυτής της έρευνας είναι να εξετάσει αν η θήρα του αγριόχοιρου είναι συμβατή με τη θήρα άλλων θηρεύσιμων ειδών. Συλλέχθηκε ένα δείγμα από 317 κυνηγούς από τη Μακεδονία και τη Θράκη (Βόρεια Ελλάδα), το 2007-8. 81 από αυτούς ήταν κυνηγοί αγριόχοιρου. Κύριος λόγος για τη συμβατότητα – ή τη μη ασυμβατότητα – είναι ο τύπος του σκύλου που απαιτείται για το συγκεκριμένο είδος θηράματος. Οι κυνηγοί αγριόχοιρου συνήθως δεν ασχολούνται με το κυνήγι της μπεκάτσας, της πέρδικας, των φασιανών, των υδροβίων και του ορτυκιού. Αυτοί που προτιμούν να κυνηγούν αγριόχοιρο θα ήθελαν επίσης να κυνηγήσουν ζαρκάδι. Όσον αφορά το κυνήγι του λαγού δεν υπάρχει μια σημαντική τάση όσον αφορά τη συμβατότητα ή την ασυμβατότητα. Σε γενικές γραμμές, οι κυνηγοί θηλαστικών και οι κυνηγοί πτηνών φαίνεται να είναι δύο διαφορετικές κατηγορίες.
